Al Jefferson played his high school basketball at Prentiss Mississippi. Jefferson originally signed to play at Arkansas, but has left his NBA options open and after deciding to enter the 2004 NBA Draft, he was selected by the Boston Celtics with the 15th overall pick. The power forward scored 16 points and pulled down a game-high 11 boards in the annual McDonald’s All-American Game. Jefferson, who averaged 42.6 points and 18.0 boards as a senior, is known for his rebounding and bruising inside game. Big Al led Prentiss High School to the Mississippi Class 3A South State Championship in 2004.

• Named MVP of the AAU 16-under championships in 2002.
